New Heights Youth offers year-round basketball-based youth development in New York City, combining after-school, weekend and summer programming for underserved youth. Its signature “College Bound” program supports students from upper-elementary through high-school with academic enrichment, leadership development, high-school and college placement assistance and college-completion services. The program has achieved a 98% college-matriculation rate and a 78% college-completion rate (within six years).
The Heckscher Foundation provided a catalytic grant to anchor New Heights’ relocation to the Bedford Union Armory in Crown Heights, Brooklyn – a spacious new facility designed to unite its athletic and academic programming. Since the move, New Heights has greatly expanded its reach, serving over 2,000 youth annually with a variety of low-barrier, basketball-based youth development programs after school, on weekends, and during the summer.
