With support from the Foundation, Shared Lane developed and expanded a Workforce Gateway Internship Program (WGI), a micro-training model that provides high school seniors with direct exposure to workforce training programs while helping providers build stronger admissions pipelines. In 2024, WGI served 104 students from 25 high schools across 11 workforce training sites. Attendance averaged 90%, 88% of students completed the program, and 68% applied to a workforce training program, more than double the rate achieved during the pilot year.
Shared Lane is slso working with participating providers to pilot a common application process and develop an admissions preparation module that helps students understand the skills and expectations associated with workforce training programs.
Together, these efforts seek to create a more coordinated high school-to-workforce training pipeline and help more young people access career pathways that lead to self-sustaining jobs.
