We are exploring the potential of AI to guide young people as early as 8th grade in the choice of a pathway to a career. Led by esteemed educators Norman Atkins (co-founder of Uncommon Schools) and Dave Levin (co-founder of KIPP Public Schools), Array is an innovation studio which seeks to catalyze the next generation of teaching and learning solutions.
High schools today generally fail to instill in students the motivation needed to propel them toward long-term careers. More troubling, neither do schools equip students with the professional or technical skills required to find the way to good jobs after their education is complete. With our support, Array looks to harness artificial intelligence to customize post-secondary planning, coaching, and support to help counselors manage their core responsibilities and help students discover their best-fit pathway. Array is using AI to build a post-secondary planning tool that addresses seven key elements that together form a coherent experience for students: Purpose; Career Exploration; Financial literacy; Decision-Making; College Applications; Financial Aid; and Alumni/Post-Secondary Tracking & Support.
Array is working with a number of the foundation supported innovators in these areas, including Merit America and Overgrad, as well as the founders of Heckscher grantees Coursemojo, Teach Like a Champion, and our Financial Literacy Initiative to develop an engaging, comprehensive AI-powered tool to prepare students to match to better career and higher education pathways.
