Approach

GO Project

The GO Project provides year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support to NYC public school students, beginning in early elementary school and continuing through middle school. Through a partnership-based model with public schools, independent schools, and community organizations, GO delivers small-group instruction, high-impact tutoring, and enrichment designed to accelerate learning and long-term success.

Heckscher funding supports GO’s integrated program model, including expanded site partnerships, 1:1 tutoring in literacy and math, and continued growth into new communities.

In FY25, GO served 764 students across New York City, the majority from low-income households, with 40% receiving special education services and 24% identified as English language learners.

Students demonstrated strong academic gains:

  • 91% met or exceeded grade-level growth in literacy
  • 88% met or exceeded grade-level growth in math

GO also continued to deepen its impact through targeted interventions and expanded partnerships:

  • 31 public school partners and 6 independent school host sites
  • 597 volunteers supporting programming
  • Expanded 1:1 tutoring and a new Brooklyn site serving additional students

These results reflect GO’s focus on early, sustained intervention – helping students build foundational skills, stay on track academically, and achieve long-term success, including higher rates of high school graduation and college enrollment.
