Approach

New Heights Youth

New Heights Youth offers year-round basketball-based youth development in New York City, combining after-school, weekend and summer programming for underserved youth. Its signature “College Bound” program supports students from upper-elementary through high-school with academic enrichment, leadership development, high-school and college placement assistance and college-completion services. The program has achieved a 98 % college-matriculation rate and a 78 % college-completion rate (within six years).

The Heckscher Foundation provided a catalytic grant to anchor New Heights’ relocation to the Bedford Union Armory in Crown Heights, Brooklyn — a spacious new facility designed to unite its athletic and academic programming. Since the move, New Heights has greatly expanded its reach, serving over 1,500 youth annually.

We are proud to partner with the Heckscher Foundation. They have had a game changing impact on our organization and the youth and families across NYC that we serve. The Foundation’s commitment of time and resources has strengthened our academic and athletic programming, built our organizational capacity and positioned us to take on tremendous growth in our new home.
